❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between CTC and take-home salary?

CTC (Cost to Company) is the total amount your employer spends on you annually. It includes your basic salary, allowances, employer PF contribution, gratuity, bonus, etc. Take-home salary is what you actually receive after deductions like employee PF, professional tax, and income tax.

How is HRA calculated?

HRA is usually 40-50% of basic salary (40% for non-metro, 50% for metro cities). For tax exemption, the least of these is considered: 1) Actual HRA received, 2) Rent paid minus 10% of salary, 3) 50% of salary (metro) or 40% (non-metro).

Is PF deducted on full salary?

No, PF is deducted only on basic salary + dearness allowance, subject to a maximum of ₹15,000 per month for EPS contribution. Many companies restrict PF to basic salary only.
